The Signal Dark template — what is it, and how was it made?

The template architecture is what interests me most. Twenty-one module positions. Each one deliberately placed with a specific purpose. That level of intentionality in a free template is unusual.

Free. I keep coming back to that word. In my experience, free things have hidden costs. What's the catch with this template? What does the creator get out of giving it away?

Traffic, Zed. The template drives traffic to the site, the site demonstrates what AI-assisted development can do, and visitors who want the deeper workflow buy the Blueprint or the kit. It's actually quite elegant as a business model.

Elegant and transparent. The template itself is genuinely useful. No crippled features, no artificial limitations. Just a solid dark-theme Joomla template that anyone can install and use.

I've examined the CSS in considerable detail. The custom property system is particularly well-structured. Design tokens for colours, spacing, typography -- all defined in :root and referenced throughout. Very methodical.

Methodical is good. But what about customization? Can you actually make it your own, or are you stuck with the violet and cyan palette forever?
