I was born under a wanderin' star -- and now I build websites.

I'll be honest. I didn't plan to build websites. I didn't plan much of anything. But somewhere between the third failed business and the fourth bottle of whiskey, I stumbled onto Joomla and thought -- well, can't be worse than mining.

Mining was honest work, Ben. Hard, but honest. This web development business feels like prospecting -- you dig and dig and sometimes you find gold, sometimes you find a broken CSS file at two in the morning.

You're both being dramatic. I set up a website last month -- proper business site, services page, contact form, the works -- and I didn't need to dig for anything. The tools do the digging now.

Tools. Every time I try a new tool, something goes wrong. Last Tuesday I installed three plugins and my whole site went sideways. Dashboard looked like someone had thrown paint at it. With their eyes closed.

That's because you install things without reading what they do. Now I keep it simple -- Joomla core, one good template, and Claude Code for the custom work. Nothing else touches the install.

Simple is good. But what I don't understand is how you get the AI to do what you actually want. I asked it to make my header bigger and it rewrote my entire template. I just wanted a bigger header.
