I've been using Claude Code inside VS Code for a few weeks now. There's a certain elegance to describing what you want and watching it materialise. Like having a tailor who reads your mind — only faster, and with fewer fittings.

Elegance is a luxury. What matters is scale. I've been using it to generate entire application scaffolds in minutes — databases, APIs, frontend templates. While others write one function, I produce an empire of code.

An empire of code? That sounds like an empire of bugs. I've seen plenty of AI-generated output that looks impressive until you actually try to run it. Pretty on the surface, hollow underneath.

Hey now, don't write it off too fast. I've been pairing with Claude Code on a side project and it's honestly changed the game for me. Like having a buddy who never gets tired.

Jill raises a fair point, though. The output is only as good as the conversation you have with it. You can't bark orders and expect perfection. It requires a certain finesse.

Finesse is for those who work in small quantities. I feed it an entire project brief — architecture diagrams, data models — and let it produce everything at once. Why sculpt when you can cast?
