Finally. A glimmer of methodology. Yes, Craig, that's few-shot prompting. Now imagine applying that rigour to EVERY interaction. System prompt defines the role and boundaries. Few-shot examples define the quality standard. User prompt defines the specific task. Three layers. Non-negotiable.

This is really helpful. I've been using AI tools for months and never thought about it this systematically. Is there a good resource that walks through all these techniques? I feel like I've been driving a sports car in first gear.

The coding tools article at
theaidirector.win
covers the Claude Code workflow specifically. It's very practical — not just theory but actual step-by-step implementation.

Temperature and top-p settings. Most people never touch them. They're using default parameters like they're drinking house wine at a restaurant that has a cellar. Temperature zero for factual work. Higher for creative. It's not complicated, it's just that nobody bothers.

Alright, I'll admit the structured approach is growing on me. I rewrote my marketing prompts with proper constraints and the output was noticeably sharper. Still took forever to write the prompt though.

It gets faster. Like any craft, the initial investment is time. Then muscle memory develops. I can write a production-quality system prompt in under five minutes now. Three months ago it took thirty.
